Paper bark forest

Paperbark trees

‘X’ marks the spot! This is a paper bark forest at the Tamar Island Wetlands, in the north of Tasmania. It’s amazing to have such a place so very close to Launceston City. As you walk along the boards that weave through the wetlands you can see a huge variety of bird life – my favourite is the swamp hen. A close relation of the Tasmanian native hen but it has a red beak and blue plumage. One day I’ll snap a photo of one!
