A few mates and myself went on a hike up towards tarn shelf at Mt Field. It’s know for its beauty when the Nothofagus gunnii turns for the season. We were a little late (Anzac Day) to fully appreciate the display of yellows, oranges and reds, but I was in macro heaven! The masses of leaves had fallen under the spindly bushes to produce amazing textures up close. Part of the beauty of these leaves are the “crinkle cut” ridges that fan over the leaves. The leaves are carefully folded this way in the bud before they unfurl.
